All-inclusive or bed & breakfast is one of the most money-relevant choices you'll make when booking a hotel. The right answer depends less on the deal and more on _where_ you're staying. Here's how to decide.

## When all-inclusive makes sense

All-inclusive shines when leaving the resort for every meal is impractical — remote beaches, islands, places where the hotel is far from restaurants, or where you simply want to switch off and never see a bill. For families, knowing meals, snacks and drinks are covered makes budgeting painless.

The risks: “included” drinks may be local-only with premium brands charged extra; à-la-carte restaurants can carry supplements; and you may eat more than you need just because it’s there.

## When bed & breakfast wins

In a walkable town or city — or anywhere with a strong local food scene — B&B (or room-only) gives you variety, lets you discover local restaurants, and often costs less overall. You’re not paying for meals you won’t eat, and you’re free to explore at dinner.

Add up what all-inclusive costs _over_ B&B per day, then estimate what you’d actually spend on lunch, dinner and drinks locally. If local dining costs less than the AI supplement — and there are good options nearby — book B&B. If it costs more, or there’s nothing around, all-inclusive is the better deal.
